I have been unable to find anything about this event on any persecuted church website, and CompassDirect news, which gives updates on the persecuted church, is reported to have said that this event is a hoax. Something as large as an execution of 22 missionary FAMILIES would be not exactly implausible, but the fact that it is foreign missionaries would raise a lot of outcry. There would also most likely be talks between the Afghani government and whatever nation these missionaries are from leading up to the execution(not saying this is always true, but for the most part these events are political so they are dealt with politically.) The only thing that is relatively similar to this event was in July 2007 when 23 Korean missionaries were held hostage in Afghanistan. You can read more about it here. So, I believe from the evidence presented, it is safe to say that this event, which was sent all over the world via text message, is in fact untrue. BUT, we can still pray for Afghanistan! This war-torn country has a small minority of believers and the Afghani people need the light of Jesus Christ to be shed on the darkness of Islam. Pray for missionaries to be sent that will be willing to give their lives for Christ in Afghanistan for the purpose of others coming to know Christ! Pray that the Lord would increase the boldness of those who are believers and He would strengthen existing missionaries. Above all, pray that God would be glorified in Afghanistan.

Pray for Christians in China

Hey friends :)

China has a long history of persecution towards Christians, one of the most brutal in recent history, but has seemed to calm down over the years. The Government has been completely unable to restrict the growth of the gospel, and presently thousands of unofficial churches are in China with millions of believers loving and worshiping Jesus against the Government's will. However, there are reports being leaked out of the government that crackdowns on the "foreign" religion of Christianity are to start with strong force this coming year. A meeting in one of the largest colleges in Beijing was held to educate faculty on the dangers of foreign influence, where they distorted the history and explained that Daoism, Buddhism, and Islam are "indigenous" religions, therefore making them safe, while Christianity is from the west making it dangerous. Believers are anticipating an increased amount of government sanctioned persecution, but are still confident that many more will be won over to Christ this year. Still at this time though many of our brothers and sisters are being horribly persecuted and abused for their faith in Christ and work with the underground Church in China.
Please pray:
-The Lord would soften the hearts of government officials and this year would be a year of peace for the Church in China; instead of persecution there would be more conversion from darkness into light
-If persecution continues or increases, Chinese Christians would be granted strength to stand firm against all opposition and continue to worship and glorify God
-The lies coming against the knowledge of Christ would be taken captive and exposed for what they truly are
-The Lord would continue to comfort and have mercy on our family in China that are facing torture and abuse just because they love Jesus

Be blessed today friends!

prayer update

SRI LANKA – Anti-conversion Law Under Review in Parliament – VOM Canada

On Jan. 6, the Buddhist- led Jathika Hela Urumaya (National Heritage Party) presented an anti-conversion bill to the Sri Lankan Parliament. The purpose of the bill, which was first presented in 2004, is to "provide prohibition of conversion from one religion to another by use of force or allurement or by fraudulent means." The current legislation no longer contains two clauses that the Supreme Court deemed unconstitutional following challenges from several civil and religious rights groups. However, Christians and other religious minorities remain concerned because the bill, if passed, will introduce serious penalties for those found guilty of "forcibly" converting people, including jail terms, and could violate the right to religion and worship in the country. Ask the Lord to intervene so that this legislation will not be passed. Pray for wisdom and endurance for those serving Christ in Sri Lanka.

Psalm 27:1-3

KYRGYSTAN – UPDATE- Restrictive Religion Law Passed – Forum 18 News

The draft religion law approved by Kyrgyzstan's parliament in early November has been signed and approved by President Kurmanbek Bakiev, according to Forum 18 News. Religious leaders across Kyrgyzstan have expressed concern for their communities, especially those with small numbers. The new religion law stipulates that 200 adult citizens are necessary to apply for state registration, whereas previously only 10 citizens were required. The new law also bans the involvement of children in religious organizations, forbids religious groups from spreading their faith and prohibits the distribution of religious material. Pray for believers in Kyrgystan to remain faithful to Christ despite this repressive law. Ask God to encourage them and give smaller communities creative ways and means to continue meeting and worshipping together.

Joshua 1:9

INDIA – UPDATE - Relief Camps Closed in Orissa - VOM Sources

Government authorities in Orissa state have shut down relief camps forcing thousands of Christians displaced by the wave of violence that began last August to flee, according to The Voice of the Martyrs contacts. Believers have been left without adequate protection against further attacks or compensation for damages sustained. Many of the believers were threatened with violence while in the camps and fear further attacks if they return to their homes, many of which have not been rebuilt. Officials are providing some of the refugees with 10,000 rupees (US$201). However, the sum is inadequate to meet their long-term needs and it is unlikely that many will be able to secure employment, as local Hindus often refuse to hire Christians. Ask God to protect believers as they face potential challenges and danger. Pray their needs are met and for them to find employment so they can provide for their families.

Isaiah 40:31

Prayer Update

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of posting!! Winter Camp was last weekend for the High Schoolers, and this past week has been recovery :) Here is a VOM update for the past week, but don't worry, there will be other postings this week! Be blessed friends!
CHINA - Deathly Ill Husband Denied Visitation with his Imprisoned Wife – China Aid Association

Chinese government authorities have denied Hua Zaichen, 91, visitation with his imprisoned wife, 79-year-old Shuang Shuying, according to China Aid Association (CAA).
Zaichen, who is deathly ill, requested a final meeting with his wife to say his goodbyes, but officials refused to grant the request. “Authorities say Shuang Shuying is not allowed to leave prison before February 8, 2009, the end of her two-year sentence. Officials stated that if her husband died before then, she would be allowed to see his body for 10 minutes and would have to be chained, handcuffed, shackled and wearing a prison uniform,” CAA added. Pray for this family that has endured many hardships for the sake of their faith. Pray for Shuang Shuying to be released. Praise God for their courage!

Joshua 1:9

INDIA - Four Christians Arrested in Madhya Pradesh – VOM Sources

On Jan. 5, police arrested four Christians in the village of Kushalpura, Madhya Pradesh, India on false charges of forcible conversion. At 10:00 a.m., Pastor Kantilal Bhuria went to the home of a local Christian where 25 believers were gathered for prayer. During the service, a mob of Hindu extremists barged into the house and accused Pastor Bhuria of forcibly converting Hindus. The extremists verbally abused those present and beat a Christian woman. The police arrived on scene after receiving a phone call from the attackers and arrested four believers. At last report, these Christians remained in detention. Pray for the release of these Christians. Ask God to give them and other suffering believers in India grace, wisdom and endurance as they serve Him.

1 Peter 5:10-11

KAZAKHSTAN – President Sends Repressive Law for Constitutional Review – Forum 18 News

President Nursultan Nazarbaev of Kazakhstan has sent a repressive new law which aims to severely limit freedom of religion or belief to the country's Constitutional Council, Forum 18 News Service reported. Meanwhile, the government continues to repress the exercise of freedom of thought, conscience and belief. In January a Baptist pastor, Aleksandr Kerker, was fired from his job because he led worship without state permission. Pastor Kerker lost his job after authorities visited his employer. Pray for believers in Kazakhstan facing the possibility of harsher conditions if this repressive law is passed. Ask God to provide for Pastor Kerker and his family during this challenging time. Pray this pastor forgives his persecutors and for God to touch the heart of these authorities.

Philipians 4:6-7

UZBEKISTAN – Children and Parents Threatened for Attending Services – Forum 18 News

Police in southeast Uzbekistan have begun a campaign against children attending places of worship, Forum 18 News Service reported. The authorities' campaign, which also uses the state-controlled mass media, attacks schools and parents who allow children to attend religious "sects." Pray for Christian families who have come under scrutiny in Uzbekistan. Ask God to give them courage to continue serving the Lord despite what authorities say.

Psalm 91

VOM update

Hey guys, here is a quick update of a few countries from Voice of the Martyrs. The wave of house arrests began in northern Eritrean cities and moved to southern regions before reaching the capital, Asmara, on Dec. 12. Some of the detained Christians were reportedly transferred to a military facility and were severely mistreated. Local sources indicate that an unspecified number may have died due to untreated injuries sustained in detention. Pray for the release of those detained. Ask God to comfort those who have lost loved ones. Pray that Eritrean Christians will continue to follow Christ's example of faithfulness, even at great cost. Pray that Eritrea's leaders will repent and come to faith in Christ.

1 Peter 2:21

BANGLADESH – Christians Held Captive – Compass Direct News

On Dec. 10, 13 believers who converted to Christianity from Buddhism four months ago were forcibly held captive by Buddhist clerics and local officials in Rangamati district, Chittagong division, Bangladesh, Compass Direct News reported. In an attempt to coerce them to reconvert to Buddhism, the Christians were reportedly pressured into undergoing Buddhist rituals, such as shaving their heads and wearing saffron robes. According to local Christian leaders, believers in this predominantly Buddhist area often face eviction from their homes or bodily harm if they refuse to return to Buddhism. Pray that these Christians will be released unharmed. Pray that they will cling to God for their strength. Ask God to work in the hearts of those who oppose His followers in this area.

Psalm 63:8

CHINA – Church Building Destroyed, Believers Beaten – China Aid Association

On Dec. 17, the officially registered Chengnan Christian Church of Tinghu district in Jiangsu province was attacked by a mob led by government officials, according to China Aid Association. Over 50 Christians were gathered for worship when police officers barged in and dragged several believers outside where more than a thousand people were gathered, including government officials and security guards. The crowd then demolished the church's office, training center and cafeteria and confiscated church property. Ten believers were beaten when they tried to stop the destruction. The church has faced ongoing harassment from government officials and had obtained a court order on the evening of Dec. 16 to protect their building from such an attack. It is suspected that the destruction was the result of officials and powerful businessmen working in collusion to obtain the coveted church property by force. So far, about 500 people have been murdered, including both Muslims and Christians. Many pastors were murdered by Muslim rioters as they tried to protect their churches and flocks. Release International published an article saying,
"The wife of a Christian pastor murdered in the recent wave of violence in the city of Jos says she forgives his killers.
Mary Yari told new agency Compass Direct that her husband Joseph was shot as he tried to stop rioters from destroying a Baptist church in the Plateau state capital. 'They were ignorant of the crime they have committed because they do not know Jesus,' she said."
This is a reason to praise the Lord! It is only an act of the Holy Spirit that enables someone to forgive something like that. It is also a reason to lift up our brothers and sisters around the world who have lost a loved one to persecution. Just like we learned about last night at youth group, bitterness is debilitating, and it is incredibly easy to fall into bitterness after losing someone special to you unfairly. We need to pray for those who have lost fathers and husbands, and any one else for that matter, to the violence Nigeria. We need to keep in mind our family across the globe who is suffering and hurting, and that they'd be able to forgive those who have murdered their dads, moms, sisters, brothers...that they would be able to love their enemies and pray for those that persecute them.
Please Pray that:
-The Holy Spirit would pour the love of the Father abroad in the hearts of those who are mourning the loss of a loved one to persecution, and He would be their comforter.
-The Lord would reconcile those who have taken lives of Christians out of hatred and anger to Himself, and they would come to know the love of Christ that surpasses understanding.
-The Lord would change our hearts- that we would be more thankful for the blessings He has given us.
Have a blessed day and week guys, be mindful of the graciousness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Prayer Update

Hey guys, here is the prayer update from the Voice of the Martyrs. There are verses that are helpful for praying for each situation under the story. Be blessed by the Lord today and be thankful that His grace is sufficient!

CHINA - 40 Christian Leaders Detained, 16 Sentenced to Administrative Detention - China Aid Association

On Dec. 16, 40 pastors and house church leaders were detained at a Christian leaders gathering in Taoling village, Henan province, according to China Aid Association. Officials told the Christian leaders they needed to pay between a 1,000 to 2,00 yuan fine (US $11.20-$22.40). Some of the Christians were released after paying the fine. However, 16 leaders were sentenced to 10 to 15 days administrative detention for engaging in an "illegal religious gathering." Mr. Yan Linshan, the host of the meeting, received 10 days of administrative detention and a 1,000 yuan fine. Pray for the imprisoned Christian leaders. Ask God to encourage them and their families during this difficult time. Pray God protects Christians in China and for them to forgive their persecutors.

Psalm 27:1

INDIA - Hindu Extremists Attack Christians in Karnataka - Compass Direct News

On Dec. 14, Hindu extremists from the Bajrang Dal group attacked a Christmas program organized by the Helping Hands organization and accused the director of forcible conversion. Extremists disrupted the program which helps rural women and children, accusing Samuel Moses of trying to forcibly convert women and children. The extremists burned gospel literature and took Moses and his accountant to the Bangarapet police station. The Christians were detained in the police station for about nine hours, with the incident publicized on local broadcast and print media. The Christians were later released without charges. Police Inspector Chinnana Swami told Compass Direct that the Christians were detained for questioning, but police found no forcible conversion and the case has been closed. Praise God the Christians were released. Ask God to protect Christians in India who face intimidation and sometimes imprisonment because of their faith in Christ.

Romans 8:31

VIETNAM - Authorities Destroy Church Building - Compass Direct News

On Dec. 17, local government officials destroyed a new wooden church building built by Hmong Christians in Cu Hat village, Dak Lak province, Compass Direct News reported. A large contingent of government officials, police and demolition workers arrived at the church in the morning and destroyed it. Police with electric cattle prods beat hundreds of distraught Christians who rushed to the site to protect the building. Five people were injured in the atack, including a child who suffered a broken arm and a woman who was poked in the stomach with a cattle prod. Pray for those injured in this attack. Pray believers will be able to rebuild the church building.

Romans 8:11

Pray for Christians in Pakistan

Hey guys, here is an update from Voice of the Martyrs. Sandul is falsely accused of ripping pages from the Quran. On Oct. 9, a large crowd of Muslims attacked Christian families at a church, throwing stones and firing guns. They were shouting, “Kill Gulsher and his daughter Sandul.” Sandul and her father were arrested after a mob from the local mosque surrounded their house. Loudspeakers from different mosques broadcast accusations that Christians had disgraced the Quran, calling Muslims to attack and burn their homes. The angry crowd threw stones and set fire to Sandul’s home. Christians believe Sandul and her father were targeted and arrested because they were aggressively winning villagers to Christ. Pray Sandul and her father are released from prison. Ask God to encourage her family and for believers in Pakistan to be emboldened to continue proclaiming and sharing Christ.

Pray for Christians in Bangladesh

Hey friends.

This past week, 13 Christian men were kidnapped and trapped inside a Buddhist pagoda in the southeastern part of Bangladesh. The motives behind it are to force the men to recant their newly found faith in Christ and perform the necessary rituals to become Christians again. If these men don't do what they are told, they could be beaten, and if they continue to practice Christianity, they could be killed. These are tribal peoples, and Christians have been threatened and warned that they must not stay in that area if they are going to be Christians. In a neighboring area, 50 Christian have been cut off from all communication and are completely isolated and unable to travel outside of their area. Buddhism and Christianity are both minority religions in the Muslim dominated Country, but the mountainous regions hold a lot of tribal Buddhists and recently, Christians. Christians are afraid of informing police, who would have trouble anyways trying to get through the mountains to these villages, because of underground Buddhist terrorist groups. They are fearful that these groups would attack greatly if the Christians were to call on help from the police.
Please pray that:
-The Lord would have mercy on the men who are being forced to become Buddhists, and they would be unafraid to give their lives for Jesus Christ.
-Hearts of the Buddhists committing these acts would be softened, and they'd want to know more about Jesus.
-God would grant peace in these areas, and Christians would be void of any fear, trusting that God will take care of them and their lives are in His hands.

Thanks for praying guys:)

Pray for Christians in Pakistan

Hey guys.
I recommend you read this article.
Two Christian sisters were kidnapped in Pakistan, and the 13 year old was forced to recant her faith in Christ and become a Muslim. There is now a legal battle between the child's parents and the man who is now her husband. The legal system is run by the Muslim law of sharia, which makes all non-Muslim's second class citizens, making the outcome of this very bleak. But we have a big God. The girl has been tricked, lied to, and may have been raped and abused by her captors. At this point, she doesn't want to leave her new husband, and although she is only 13, the courts have rejected that and said she is 17, in favor to her husband's wishes. One needs to be 17 to decide without parents if they want to be married, making her "legally" able to decide, even though in actuality she is only 13. The two men are known for being apart of the human trafficking business, and people were surprised the two girls weren't immediately sold into prostitution. The younger sister, 10 years old, was able to escape and return to her parents, but her testimony isn't fully being regarded by the courts. We really need to pray guys.
Pray that:
-The Lord would have mercy on the 13 year old, Saba, and she would realize that Jesus is the truth and she doesn't need to be held in this bondage.
-God would bring justice and these men would be held accountable to their deeds, and also the court would not rule in their favor.
-Saba's family would have peace in knowing that the Lord is in control, and God would intervene on their and Saba's behalf.
-Saba would live her life for Christ Jesus, the only redeemer of this world, and would see the shallowness and emptiness of Islam.

Update for the Persecuted Church

Here is a video with updates on the persecuted church for December. Recently reports have come up that increased persecution has taken place, and it is intensely dangerous to be Christian or convert from Islam to Christianity. Out of the 1 million people that live on this island, only about 300 are Christian, a tiny minority. Government officials have taken away passports and travel documents from some Christians, making it impossible to leave the island. An influential Muslim leader recently converted to Christianity, and he has been in hiding from angry Muslims who are seeking to kill him for the past few months. Three Christian men were put in prison for for being involved with Christianity this year as well. The Muslims of Comoros believe that Christianity is from Tanzania, and they believe that Tanzania wants to take over their country, which in turn has caused a lot of tension.
Please pray that:

The Lord would bring revival to the country of Comoros, and the eyes of the people in that country would be opened to the truth.

Christians who are facing persecution would not lose heart, but instead persevere and take joy in enduring hardship.

Believers would be protected from the enemy and from violent attacks, and the Lord would give them favor with their communities.

Thanks for praying guys!

Pray for Christians in Nigeria

Hi friends.
Today we're going to lift up Nigeria. Violence has been a large part of this country's history, especially for religious reasons. Nigeria has a large Muslim population in the North and a small Christian population in the South, causing Christians to be the targets of much persecution and murder. In a recent local government election, Muslims became angry with the outcome, believing Christians had tampered with the votes to get who they wanted in office. Consequently violence broke out and it is reported about three to four hundred people have been killed, both Muslim and Christian. A man named Issac who is an Open Doors representative, an organization dedicated to bringing the gospel to closed Nations, in the capital of Nigeria, Jos, was targeted by Muslims and miraculously he and his family escaped before they were killed. Many churches have been destroyed, and Christians are being killed. One churches pastor was murdered as the church building was burnt to the ground. With Nigeria's long history of conflict, violence, and murder between Muslim's and Christians, there is fear that this will lead to another civil war of sorts.
Please Pray:

Praise God for protecting Isaac and his family.

The violence in Jos has calmed down a bit, but the situation remains tense. Please pray for Christians in Nigeria, as the situation is not yet resolved.

Pray that the police and military will be able to contain the violence without losing too many lives.

Pray for all Christians to remain calm and not be tempted to participate in the violence.

Pray for opportunities for the gospel to touch Muslim hearts, and they would cease being angry and come to know the God of Peace.

Thank you for praying friends!

Pray for believers in Egypt

Hey guys, I'm really sorry about the lack of posting the past few days; I had to go out of town unexpectedly and had no internet access! But we are still praying!!
Egypt is known for being one of the safest Middle Eastern countries, with a rather solid group of Coptic Christians who were founded by the Apostle Mark two thousand years ago. Despite having a long standing Christian Church, Islam is the national Religion and most of Egypt is Muslim. Christians only make up 10% of the 80 million people who live in Egypt. Persecution has been going on for centuries, but recently it has been escalating. Two Christian brothers were arrested and charged for killing a Muslim who worked with them. They were actually attacked by a group of radical Muslims while all working on a church, and that is when the man died. They don't have any contact with their family and are being held on very false grounds, enduring many forms of torture to try to force a confession for the murder. Their family has no means of paying for anything without them and as of now they are without electricity and water. Also, a few days ago a Coptic church was surrounded by a mob of angry Muslims who chanted, “We will demolish the church,” “Islam is the solution” and “No God but Allah.” They were angry at the new building extension of the church, which took church leaders about fifteen years to get permits for. There have been many threats, and three Christians were arrested that night without any reason.
Please Pray that:

The Lord would have mercy on the two brothers in prison, they would be strengthened, and their families would be provided for, as we know our Father is the Father of the fatherless.

God would grant Egyptian Christians favor and protection in a very hostile environment, and they would be guarded from the enemies schemes.

The Church would continue to grow, and believers would be unafraid of persecution, arrest or torture for their faith in Jesus.

Thank you so much for praying guys:)

Pray for believers in China

Hi guys:)
China already has a long history of persecuting Christians, and even with all of the attention it has gotten from around the world, Chinese Christians are still persecuted and killed for their faith in Jesus. Chinese officials have not yet declared a new court date for Alimujiang Yimiti, a Christian house church leader and ethnic Uyghur in China’s northwest province of Xinjiang, who has been detained since his arrest on Jan. 12. In mid-October, Chinese state prosecutors returned Yimiti’s case to a Xinjiang court for consideration. Charges against Yimiti include “inciting secessionist sentiment to split the country” and “collecting and selling intelligence for overseas organizations." These charges are likely to be exaggerated and untrue. Yimiti converted from Islam to Christianity more than 10 years ago and became active in the growing Uyghur church. Media reports state that Yimiti’s friends have said they believe his faith is the real reason for his arrest. Officials have threatened to hand down a sentence ranging from six years in prison to the death penalty.
Please pray:

For Yimiti and his family during this difficult time.

Ask God to protect and comfort them and for believers in China to continue living out their faith unashamedly.

The Holy Spirit would convict the officials detaining Yimiti and they would release him to his family and church body.

The Lord would lead and sustain Yimiti, and he would be given many oppertunities to share the gospel that he would be eager to take.

Hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving and are enjoying your break! Don't forget to pray for our brothers and sisters!! Remember that we really are bound with them through Christ!

Thank the Lord for His goodness:)

Hey guys, since it is Thanksgiving, it seems like it would be fitting to thank the Lord for all that He has done in our lives and the life of His church around the world. As more and more Mexicans become evangelical Christians, traditionalist Catholics, who blend native rituals and Roman Catholicism, have been increasing the persecution directed at them. They believe that they have the right to conform everyone to their beliefs, and when Christians refuse to pay for Catholic festivals, which Christians "regard as idolatrous adoration of saints and other rituals contrary to their faith," they have been threatened. In many villages, Catholics are telling families that they will be forced to leave, Christian families have no electricity or water, they cannot serve in the community, and they must pay different fines. This has happened frequently the past few years, and is continuing to increase as time goes on. Also, Mexico's constitution guarantees religious freedom, but many officials are joining in and inciting the persecution towards believers.
Please pray that:

Jesus would fill these believers with His joy, and know that He works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

He would provide for them if they have no water or electricity, and that would be a testimony to the Catholics around them that our God is real, He is faithful, and He ALONE is worthy of worship.

The persecutors would be convicted by the Holy Spirit, and He would move in their lives so they would see the glory of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and understand why the believers around them don't want to take part in their ceremonies.

Have a blessed day guys

Pray for Christians in Vietnam

Hey guys.
We really need to lift up our brothers and sisters in Vietnam right now. There are many ethnic minorities located all over southeast Asia, the Hmong being one of them, and we prayed for those in Laos a a few days ago. Now, Hmong in Vietnam are facing persecution and pressure from the government to recant their faith in Jesus and return to animistic worship, which is worshiping trees, nature, spirits... things like that. Even though in 2004 the government created a law that made it illegal to make someone recant their faith, the government published a booklet in 2006 that explained how to make hilltribes leave Christianity and return to their old religions. Recently, authorities have been sent to North Vietnam to try to force new Hmong Christians to become animists again. They were threatened to not receive any government services, which for very poor Hmong could be really bad. This still didn't cause the Christians to leave Jesus, so, "the officials threatened to drive the Christians from their homes and fields, harm them physically and put them in prison." We've been going through Hebrews on Sundays, and this is a lot similiar to the Hebrew Christians problems. They were facing persecution, and it seemed easier to go back to their old ways to stop being persecuted. If these Hmong Christians leave Jesus and become animist again, they will be safe and unharmed. But, as we've learned, JESUS IS BETTER!
Please pray that:

The Lord would encourage and strengthen these believers, and they would hold fast to their confession in Jesus and not turn back to their old ways.

They would remember Jesus is much better than anything in this life and especially better than animism, even if it would be more comfortable in their old ways.

The officials in Vietnam would be convicted by the Holy Spirit, and they would stop persecuting these Christians.

Jesus would be so near to our brothers and sisters in Vietnam, and they would cling to Him and His promises and see that He is faithful.

Thank you so much for praying guys, the Lord is so faithful to answer prayers!

Pray for Christians in Sri Lanka

Hey guys:)
A bill is going through Sri Lanka's parliament that could make evangelism and becoming a Christian illegal. This bill, the "Prevention of Forcible Conversion Bill," while on paper doesn't look entirely bad, in practice could cause many faith based groups and other Christians in Sri Lanka to face violence or imprisonment for being/becoming a Christian. Sri Lanka has a small minority of Christians, and in the midst of civil unrest from militant Hindus and Buddhists, Christians have faced a lot of persecution.
Please pray for:

The Parliament and that they would decide against this bill by the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

The Lord would guard Christians in Sri Lanka from Hindu and Buddhist militants, and they would be unashamed of the Gospel, for "the righteous are as bold as a lion."

If this bill be passed, the Gospel would spread even more than it is now, and hearts in Sri Lanka would be opened to see the glory of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Be blessed by the grace of our Lord today:)

Update for the Persecuted Church

Hey guys:) Here's a video updating us on the persecuted church around the world.
Be blessed today:)

Continue to pray for Iraqi Christians

On Nov. 12, two sisters were killed and their mother wounded by a gang of Islamic extremists in the Al Qahira section of Mosul, Iraq. The gunmen shot one of the sisters as she was waiting for a bus outside their home. They then stormed into the home, killed the other sister and injured their mother. A bomb placed by the assailants at the entrance of the house detonated as police arrived on the scene, injuring several officers. This is the latest in a series of attacks on Christians that have occurred in Mosul, in recent weeks. Since October, more than seven Christians have been killed and more than 200 families displaced. The Christian community in Iraq is estimated to be 3 percent of Iraq’s 26 million people, or about 800,000. Some Christians believe they are being targeted in an effort to wipe out the Christian community's economic activity and drive believers from the area. Since 2003, Christian leaders, churches and businesses in Iraq have been targeted by Islamic extremists. As a result, many believers have fled.
Please pray that:

this family as they mourn their loss and for healing for the injured mother, and that other Christians would come alongside them for assistance.

The Lord would protect and provide for persecuted and displaced believers in Mosul.

Pray displaced families will return safely to their homes, and ask God to protect them and other believers in Iraq as they risk their all for their faith.

Thanks guys:) Have a blessed day

Pray for Christians in Iraq

A 16 year old girl, Asya Ahmad Muhammad, has been released from prison in Iraq last week. She, her parents and younger brother are all Christians, her dad being the first believer in 1998. One of seven brothers, Asya's father received a lot of persecution for deciding to leave Islam for Jesus. One of his brothers attempted to kill him five times, and burnt down his house in order to get back at him for becoming a Christian. Asya's uncle then decided to try to kill his brother's family, and one morning he furiously came into Asya's father's kitchen appliance store. He grabbed one of the knives and tried killing her mother as she and her brother watched, and preceeded to cut her. He mother managed to get away, but Asya and her brother still remained in the store. Her uncle then started to beat and attack Asya, trying to kill her with the knife. Out of defense, she grabbed a knife and stabbed him, which resulted in his death. She was originally sentenced to five years of prison, but it was reduced to 2 years and four monthes. We need to rejoice over this! However, we still need to lift this family up in prayer. The rest of Asya's extended family is still angry at her and her family for being Christians and killing her uncle, and they have threatened to kill Asya. The courts are demanding that almost $9,000 be paid in blood money by Asya's family, which is impossible as they barely have enough money to buy food.
Please pray that:

The Lord would provide money for the Muhammed family, and they would be able to eat, sleep in a house every night, and if needed, escape to a different country.

The Lord's hand of protection would be upon them, and the anger the rest of their family has towards them would be replaced by the peace of Jesus Christ.

Asya's testimony and love for the Lord would encourage other believers to stand strong even when faced with death and persecution for becoming a Christian in an anti-Jesus culture.

This family would grow closer to the Lord, and they would hold fast to His grace and promises.

Draw near to Jesus today, guys:)

Pray for persecuted Christians in Laos

Three Christians were released from prison last month in Laos for "believing and worshipping God." They had spent several weeks in prison after they and 60 other believers in a village refused to stop worshipping the Lord. Laos is known for its severe persecution against Christians (You can hear more about it in the video on this page) from both citizens and Lao officials. Hundreds of pastors have been murdered and many village Christians face intense persecution and fled to neighboring Thailand. The Lao government refers to Christianity as being an "enemy to the state." Even though Christianity isn't necessarily against the Law, Lao officials will look for ways to label it as a crime worthy of a fine or imprisonment. They have fined several villagers in this specific region for loving Jesus, and taken away their farm animals which are absolutely necessary to live, which is a normal practice because most villagers don't have any money. Lao officials are restricting worship in this village and families have been forced to either sign a renunciation of their faith or be forced out of the village.
First of all we need to praise the Lord for releasing three of our brother's in Laos!

Please pray that:

The Lord would protect the believers of this village and Lao officials would be unable to make them renounce their faith in Jesus or lose their joy, but instead the Lord would cause their joy to increase and they would continue to "believe and worship God."

The Lao government would be put to shame by believer's faith in God, and that Christians would continue to preach the Gospel with selfless boldness and endurance

The Lord would stir in the hearts of the Lao believers to lift up in prayer their government, and the demonic stronghold's over this country would be released by the power of Jesus Christ (They are in subjection to Him now because of the cross!!)

Most believers are Hmong (Mong) and Lahu villagers, and they are the ones who are being targeted with the most brutal persecutions. Please pray that they would not lose heart, but press on towards the upward call in Christ Jesus.

Be blessed today!!

Pray for persecuted Christians in Africa

Hey guys! Sorry, this wasn't updated because of college camp, but don't stop coming back because we're still going strong!
We're going to lift up the nations of Eritrea and Sudan today. Because of human rights violations and persecution against Christians, Christians are forced to leave these countries and have fled to Egypt. Many refugees have sought political asylum in Egypt, which means they aren't citizens, but they are legally allowed to live in Egypt because it's too dangerous for them to go back to their countries. This has been taking place for years, but recently the Egyptian border patrol have been taking brutal measures against them. A few days ago thirty African refugees were shot and murdered while attempting to cross the border by the Egyptian border patrol.
Please pray that:

The Lord would guard the Christians that are fleeing their countries because of persecution, they would be hidden in Him, and guards would be blind as these refugees make it to safety.

Egyptian Christians would advocate for these people, and the hearts of government leaders would be softened and refugees would be granted asylum.

The countries of Eritrea and Sudan would be transformed by the Gospel, Christians within them would count it all joy to face trials and persecution, and those who are persecuting would come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ so Christians are no longer forced to leave.

Pray for Christians in Orissa, India

Hi guys!
As you might remember from the video last Sunday (which if you have not watched, it's right over to your right on the screen) there has been an incredible amount of persecution against Christians in Orissa, India. The countless number of stories from Christians that have lost family members, homes, churches, and even lives continues to come in. Hindu extremists will not settle for these Christians living freely, and so far 70,000 Christians have been displaced, or forced to leave their villages in Orissa, and fled to neighboring areas. Horrible things have taken place against our brothers and sisters, and many have been tortured, raped, and killed because of their faith in Jesus. We really need to lift up our family in India at this time, as the violence increases and gets worse as time goes on.
Please pray that:

The Lord would guide and protect those who are fleeing from Orissa, that families would stay together, and if they have been seperated, the Lord would bring them back together.

Ask that believers would be strengthened by knowing their struggle isn't against flesh and blood, and they would supernaturally be able to forgive and love those who are persecuting them

Jesus would be near to the brokenhearted, be a shield about believers, and a spirit of praise would come upon the Christian chuch in Orissa to lift up His name

Hindu extremists would be put to shame by the humility and love of Christians, and God would soften their hearts so they would come to the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus

Thank you so much for praying friends, our brothers and sisters really need it right now in Orissa. Keep them in your prayers today! Our prayer is very powerful and the Lord is so faithful to answer when we ask! God bless you all :)

Pray for Iranian Christians

Hey friends.
Today we are going to lift up Ramtin Soodmand. He is the son of an Iranian Pastor who was martyred by the government on false accusations. Now almost twenty years later, Soodmand was arrested on charges of "promoting anti-government propaganda." In reality, Soodmand just loves and follows Jesus Christ in a nation where anyone found converting from Islam to Christianity could face death. This month the government is trying to make it a capital offense, or something worthy of the death penalty, by being an apostate, or leaving Islam. It has become increasingly more difficult for Christians in Iran, and not only is the government arresting and persecuting Christians, other Mulsims are persecuting their Christian neighbors and former friends.
Please pray for :

Ramtin and his family would be protected from violence, they would be filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and they would cling to the Lord and His promises

Also as Ramtin is awaiting trial, he would be given favor with the judges, their hearts would be softened, and he would be allowed to go free and not face the death penalty

Christians in Iran would have discernment as government spies are pretending to be church members to get information for the government, yet still be unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

The Lord would have mercy on those who are in prison right now, their families, and use them to share His love with the people of Iran

Hope you guys had a good day! They have faced persecution at the hands of the ethnic majority in Burma called the Burman. This past week, Burmese army officials killed 4 Karen and have forced 250 Karen from their village. This happens frequently, and many Karen have fled to different parts of Burma and Thailand to escape this persecution. Almost all of the Karen are Christian, and that has been a major reason why the Burmese Government has persecuted them. Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Burma for:

Protection over individuals, families and villages as the Burmese Army tries to make them leave and commits acts of violence and evil towards them

The church body would be encouraged and have joy even in the face of this persecution

The Karen would have favor with the Thai government, and especially the Burmese Government, and the Lord would use their testimony to bring these officials, and even other citizens, to the Lord

Be blessed in all that you do today friends! Keep the Karen in your prayers!

PRAY FOR THE PERSECUTED CHURCH!

Hey guys:)

After this past Sunday you may be wondering...what next? That's why we made this blog. This is to keep us as a youth group involved with our church body that extends into the rest of the world, specifically those who are suffering for the same Jesus that we call King.

PURPOSE-To pray for and remember our family being persecuted for their faith in Jesus

HOW- Check this site every afternoon for a daily update about the persecuted church

WHY- Most importantly... because of what the Lord tells us in Hebrews 13:3- "Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves are also in the body."

"When I was beaten on the bottom of the feet, my tongue cried. Why did my tongue cry? It was not beaten. It cried because the tongue and the feet are both part of the same body. And you free Christians are part of the same Body of Christ that is now beaten in prisons in restricted nations, that even now gives martyrs for Christ. Can you not feel our pain?" -Richard Wurmbrand, who was placed into communist prisons for 13 years because of his love for Jesus and who then started Voice of the Martyrs

We can't all go over to North Korea or Afghanistan and protect our brothers and sisters..but we do have a weapon much more powerful than us...PRAYER! -"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses"(1 Corinthians 10:3-4)- So, that's what we need to do! Everyday there will be a new update from somewhere in the world where Christians are being persecuted, and along with it a few things to pray for. This will honestly take up a few minutes of your day, and it is a great way to start praying for the nations as we grow in our walks with Jesus.

Be blessed in all that you do today!
